As your midwife, I will be your pregnancy care provider throughout your entire pregnancy, labor, home birth, and postpartum period. At every prenatal visit, we will be assessing your weight, check your urine, check your blood pressure, measure your fundal height, feel for the position of the baby, listen to the baby's heart rate, and discuss any questions or concerns you may have. We will also discuss nutrition and exercise, and take care of any lab work that is needed/desired at that time in your pregnancy. The fee for my services is $4800. The care schedule is every 4 weeks through 28 weeks, then every two weeks through 36 weeks, and then weekly until the birth. When you are in labor, I will come to your home and consistently monitor your progress, your vital signs, and baby's well being while we await the birth. After the birth, you and your baby will be monitored for a minimum of two hours, during which time I will also assist with establishing breastfeeding as needed and do a thorough newborn exam.
During the postpartum period, I will check in with you by phone 24 hours after the birth, and then come to your home for a 48 hour postpartum visit to make sure you and your new baby are happy and healthy. I will see you again at 2 weeks after the birth, and then our final visit will be around your 6th week postpartum.
Should any complications arise during the course of your pregnancy, in labor/birth, or during the postpartum period, I will consult with a local obstetrician and we will determine the appropriate steps to take to ensure the continued health of you and your baby, including a transfer to the closest hospital if needed.
